Interested in constitutional law? Torts? Civil rights? Employment law? Contracts? Education law offers a unique opportunity to learn about and practice a wide variety of legal issues, all while helping students and teachers. One of Maurer's best-kept secrets is its JD Minor in Education Policy.
The IU School of Education has a unique concentration of faculty who specialize in education law and teach the required courses--many of which are taught online. Attorneys with a background in education law are employed in a variety of settings, including private practice (e.g., employment, civil rights, special education practice groups); governmental agencies (e.g., federal and state departments of education); universities (e.g., general counsel’s office, athletic department compliance, professors); and non-profit organizations (e.g., organizations dedicated to education reform).
If you are a 1L or 2L, join us on Tuesday, January 23rd from 12-1 pm in room 120 to learn more about the minor. If you are interested in the minor but not able to attend, email firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope to see you there!
