FILM: Dear White People (2014)
This campus comedy acts a magnifying glass to the world outside the classroom, sparking a conversation about race, sex and privilege in the racial consciousness of the Obama Era. Following four African-American students at an Ivier-than-Ivy League university, director Justin Simien navigates hot-button issues of race and warring identities. Free, but ticketed. (108 min. Rated R.) TICKETING INFO: These films are free and open to the public, but require a ticket. Tickets are available in advance in advance at IU Auditorium's Box Office or IU Cinema 30 minutes prior to the scheduled screening. Tickets are also available online for a modest ticketing fee at cinema.indiana.edu/tickets. Because of a high percentage of non-used tickets in the past, Themester no longer arranges bulk ticketing.
