Comm Week 2017: Bang! Splat! Zap!: Using the Principles of Applied Improvisation to Become a Communication Superhero
Krista Hoffmann-Longtin and Michael Polites
Listening, empathy, and building relationships…all of these skills are important in becoming an effective communicator. Coincidentally, these are also important characteristics of applied improvisation, an approach that uses the principles and mind-sets developed in comedy, jazz, and theatre for non-theatrical or performance purposes. This session won’t teach you to be funny—but you will have fun. Learn how to use these techniques to better equip you to lead a team, persuade others, and increase your communication skills.
