P.S. Vieyra: Pioneer of African Cinemas, Filmmaker, Producer and Historian Workshop gathers a variety of thinkers to discuss Paulin Vieyra’s legacy. Over two days scholars, critics, archivists, and librarians convene to learn the scope and condition of Vieyra’s papers and audiovisual media and reflect on the potential of accessioning his materials at IU where they would be housed alongside his collaborator Ousmane Sembène. The day is organized around specific aspects of Vieyra’s career and proceeds through semi-informal roundtables. Each participant contributes a 10-minute presentation before opening up the topic for wider conversation.
