2. Start the submission
- Go to IUScholarWorks.
- Navigate to the collection where you want to add the item.
- In the management toolbar on the left, select
+New
, thenItem
. - In the New item pop-up menu, select the appropriate collection from the list.
- If you are not already on the collection page, you may need to search for the appropriate collection.
- If the collection you need doesn't appear, see Accessing IUScholarWorks for instructions on Requesting Submission Permissions.
3. Upload file
There are no file name requirement, but it is recommended naming using the title followed by the author's last name. e.g. "the_importance_of_being_earnest_wilde.pdf"
Either drag the file anywhere onto the page or click browse
at the top of the submission form to browse your device for the file.
More than one file may be added to a single IUScholarWorks item record.
Please contact IUScholarWorks staff if you wish to add an embargo to your file(s). An embargo will temporarily prevent the public from accessing the file while still allowing them to see the item record. See our Embargo Policy for more information.
4. Fill out the Describe fields
The submission page contains fields that you will use the describe the item. Fill out all fields that are applicable to your item as it will increase discoverability.
+Add more
appears under fields that can be duplicated. Click +Add more
to add another entry for the field.

5. Accept the deposit license
Click the box next to "I confirm the license above" to accept the IUScholarWorks deposit license. Contact iusw@indiana.edu with questions or concerns regarding the deposit license.
6. Deposit the item
Click +Deposit
to add your item to IUScholarWorks!
7. Review the submitted item
After depositing your item, you will be taken to the Your Submissions page. Click the View
button under the work to see the item record.
If you do not have final deposit permissions, an email will be sent out to those who have the administrative rights to accept the submission into the repository alerting them that the item is ready for their review and approval.
8. Copy the permanent link
Always use the permanent link to share your item.
